I bought this camera from KEH, but since many people come to Amazon for reviews and recommendations I feel it’s best to post my thoughts here. I read the rest of the reviews on Amazon of this camera after I bought it from KEH, and I felt concerned about my purchase. The dynamic range and potential noise problems in printing large images that were explained in other reviews is what really forced me to look at the images this camera produces and put it through every test I can.

I am entering Week 2 of having my new camera and am enjoying every aspect of it. I love having the histogram back on the bottom (after having my 7D Mark II put it irritatingly on the side view). The ISO capabilities have been fantastic and I am enjoying the images coming out of my first full frame. Because it is so new I haven’t yet explored all the special capabilities, but discovered the touch screen LCD yesterday. I can see great possibilities with this! The 6DMII was recommended to me by a professional photographer when I asked about the 5DMIV. For me, a serious hobbyist, I did not need the power of the 5D and this perfectly fits the needs I have while giving me a full frame experience.

Great Canon upgrade to full-frame

I love my 6d mark ii. It worked flawlessly with my new 70-200 is ii at a comedy show I photographed recently. I shot with the 580ex speedlite, so I wasn’t exactly testing low-light capabilities, but I was very impressed with the image quality and how quickly and accurately focus locked on. The zone af and large zone af modes worked great for selecting the exact area that I wanted focused for the portraits I was shooting. And the touchscreen made it so easy to quickly and easily select the zone I wanted. I found the new zone select button near the shutter release to be an easy access location, which is easy to remember, being separated from the other buttons. With the drive mode set to (slow) silent continuous shooting, it allowed my speedlite to recycle those few extra milliseconds between strobes. I’ve never had a “slow” continuous mode before that I could use with a speedlite so this will be very useful for me for the type of indoor photography that I do.

Awesome camera. For me the dynamic range issues that some people mentioned were not a problem. It’s only at ISO 100 that the dynamic range isn’t on par with other cameras. This camera has greatly improved my photography. I have photos posted on my Instagram @willettra1n

More than meets the eye.

I never write reviews, but I felt that I needed to for this camera. This camera has been ridiculed and highly controversial. I’m here to tell you that I love this camera. I have been using a 5D MKIII since 2012 and decided to buy the 6d MKII. I know it doesn’t have 4k, blah blah blah…. I don’t need it. Yes I have a 4k TV. I also have 4k on my phone. The 4k garbage is way overblown. This is a DSLR not a video camera. Yes, video was awesome on the 5D MKII. It started a whole revolution. The 1080P video with Dual-Pixel Focusing is the best I have ever seen. It’s so smooth and I love having IBS now with the 6D MKII. I love the new codec, and lightness that the body gives. I hope you will ignore the naysayers and give the 6d MKII a chance.
