CES 2017 — Altia Systems’ PanaCast products deliver a natural looking, immersive 180° video experience through real-time video stitching of an array of miniaturized cameras. The company has expanded its portfolio from PanaCast 2, the world’s first Panoramic-4K Plug-and-Play USB camera, introduced last year, to now include PanaCast 2s and the PanaCast 3D VR Kit. The products will be demonstrated at CES, January 5 – 8, in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth MP25383.
PanaCast 3D VR Kit
The PanaCast 3D VR Kit is the first system to deliver 180° 3D content with full 4K resolution in real-time, with in-device panoramic video stitching.
The PanaCast 3D VR kit makes user generated 3D videos possible for content creators with point-and-shoot simplicity. The fully stitched and synchronized content is available in real-time – with a ‘what you see is what you get’ preview – to help creators see and adjust what they are creating / recording instantly, without having to wait for post-production work to experience the content. It brings immersive 3D capability within reach of content creators interested in creating virtual reality (VR) / augmented reality (AR) / mixed reality experiences.
PanaCast 3D VR kit produces videos with live preview support and creators can share content directly via any broadcast app, such as Wirecast, Facebook Live or YouTube 360. The fully stitched 3D video can be uploaded immediately and viewed on head-mounted displays (HMD) like Google Cardboard, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, etc., and viewed in real-time on the Avegant Glyph and similar devices. On an HMD, the experience resembles what one would see on an immersive, cinematic screen.
The real-time, in-device stitching enables industry-first capabilities for industrial, automotive, education, telemedicine, virtual / augmented reality experiences and video collaboration.
PanaCast 2s is the first software-defined, real-time 7.4 Megapixel 180º panoramic video camera system. It delivers 78% higher video resolution than Panoramic-4K and consists of a PanaCast 2 device and the PanaCast Computer Vision Engine (PCVE) software running on a Mac or PC.
PanaCast 2s delivers 5x lossless digital zoom, delivering a uniquely immersive experience in large collaboration spaces with high-quality digital zoom to highlight speakers, whiteboard, etc. In AR/VR, it delivers an industry-leading visual quality with 7.4 Megapixels across a 180° wide by 54° tall field of view. The video is ready for use in real-time, for live broadcasts and sharing via YouTube 360, Facebook Live and similar services. The content works with industry-standard formats and applications and can be experienced on standard Macs, PCs, tablets, smart phones and HMDs such as Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and similar devices. The camera system provides unique value for business through machine learning and intelligence capabilities. It also enables high-performance edge analytics for Internet of Things (IOT) solutions.
