Love this thing! Setup was a breeze and pairing the devices to the hub was easy and painless. Everything is working and communicating just perfectly with no fuss! I have also added 2 zwave smoke/co2 detectors (Lowes ZCOMBO units) to the system and Smartthings was easy to pair with them and knew what they were. The android software is actually quite intuitive and very easy to setup different rules for your devices. I mainly use the system for home security and it does a very good job of this. I also love the way it uses your cellphone to determine if you are home or not. I have it setup so that my motion sensors / door sensors arm when all of the family’s phones are away from the house. Also, when you (or your cellphone) get close to your house, it disarms the sensors. This makes arming and disarming the system SUPER easy and effective. I also added a Siren (Lowes Utilitech model) that will sound if any of my sensors are tripped when the system is armed. This adds another layer to the text messaging which I initially setup as the action for some of my sensors. The ZCOMBO smoke/CO2 detectors at Lowes are only $39 and work beautifully with SmartThings. What a deal!

After looking at a variety of hubs, I finally settled on the SmartThings and I couldnt be happier. First of all the community support for SmartThings is really great. Also as a programmer I find that the developer community is pretty strong and you can write configurations for your own “Things” if you feel upto it.
