Amazon recently released its second generation Echo Dot. This is a smaller version of the Echo, allowing for external speakers to be connected. It’s a hands-free, voice-controlled device that uses Amazon’s Alexa assistant to play music, control smart home devices, provide information, set alarms, answer questions, and much more.

Amazon’s Echo Dot can connect to speakers or headphones through Bluetooth or the 3.5mm headphone jack. It can then play music from Prime Music, Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn, iHeartRadio, and can play audiobooks.
Echo Dot uses 7 far-field microphones so it can hear your commands even in noisy environments or with music playing. While it doesn’t have as loud of a speaker as the bigger Echo, it does have an internal speaker to work on its own as a smart alarm clock or kitchen assistant.
Amazon is constantly updating Alexa with more skills and features. It costs just $49.99, but if you buy five of them, you’ll get the sixth one free.
