The wait is over. The new Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phones are now available to buy.

Is the PIxel 2 any different from the original Pixel phone?

Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL New Features

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL both have a Snapdragon 835s processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB – 128GB of storage, and a rear 12MP camera.

Both the Pixel 2 and the XL are waterproof. Both have a built-in embedded eSIM chip to connect to Google’s own Project Fi wireless service. They both ship with Android 8.00.

However, there are no headphone jacks and no wireless charging.

Should you upgrade from Google Pixel or Pixel XL?

The original Google Pixel was and is still a good phone. So upgrading from the Pixel to the Pixel 2 is up to you! It is a want and not a need at this time. Although Google didn’t add a second camera like other hone manufacturers. The Pixel 2 / Pixel 2 XL camera received the highest rating of 98/100 by a third party testing company DxOMark. The iPhone 8 Plus as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, both received 94/100.

The Pixel 2 is water resistant

The Pixel 2 is water resistant for 1 meter deep and up to 30 minutes under water. The Pixel 2 got a water-resistant rating of IP67.

Headphone jacks are out

Although the Pixel 2 has no headphone jack, it ships with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. the Pixel 2 also supports Bluetooth 5.0.
